I was a very busy bee on the first day of London Fashion Week assisting on two shows that day. Straight after helping out back stage for a MA Graduate show I was running over to spend the rest of the day helping LGN Events with setting up for the Josh & Nicol Catwalk Presentation.
Glistening chandeliers and period features within the elegant Charing Cross Hotel was the location for the presentation of Josh & Nicol AW 13 debut at Fashion Week. Label founder Ufuoma Ekpecham had her guests seated in the Betjeman Suite within the elegant Victorian railway hotel. Her brand often inspired by art, nature and ancient architecture has won the Planet Africa Red Carpet Dress Challenge Competition in Toronto.
Her use of mixed fabrics in black for her AW13 collection, lends gothic glamour to the show as models paraded with hair in a sleek chignon and dark berry lips. The collection aptly named ‘Promise of the Rainbow’ indeed kept its word. Out of darkness cometh light with a burst of acid rainbow colours. This took the form of stripes in a stunning suit and fitted dresses, lightening the mood with sheer fabric panelling.
Ufuoma Ekpecham believes “there is nothing more beautiful and sophisticated than a woman that dresses to suit her body shape, but true beauty comes from within”. The Style Prescription loves the sweetheart neckline sheer gown and the rainbow bodycon midi dress.
